North American Migration Count

NAMC is a Contintent-wide program that is designed to assess migrating bird populations in the spring and fall.  The ECBC coordinates counts in all Oregon counties.  Counts occur during peak migration on the second weekend in May and the third weekend in September.

In 2007 we had 30 people volunteering in Deschutes County alone.  Its a great chance to bird with a group of others and see some great birds.  All groups are lead by an experienced birder who is well able to identify the birds.  Other participants are only required to be enthusiastic and keen – no birding experiece required.

Currently we are entering the data for the last 15 years and will make this results available sometime in 2008.
