The Deschutes Land Trust has contracted with the ECBC to do avian surveys on its property at Camp Polk Meadow north of Sisters. Whychus Creek runs along the eastern boundary of this pristine mountain meadow and birds are attracted to the varied habitats in and around the meadow. Volunteers are required to undergo a short training session to qualify for full access to the meadow. The training involves the collection of Breeding Bird Atlas data and proper etiquette while on the property. Once trained, volunteers record which birds are present and any breeding behavior they observe. Bird data is collected throughout the year and seasonal trends are noted.
