Long-term study of avian populations breeding in 90,000-acre B&B Complex burn on Sisters Ranger District, with special emphasis on cavity nesters, esp. woodpeckers. Volunteers needed in summer 2006 to run point count routes. Need to be able to identify all birds breeding in the forest by sight and sound, although one less-skilled volunteer may accompany project supervisor on some routes for training purposes. Routes entail 8-14 stations with a 10-minute count at each station; counts begin at sunrise and must be completed by 10 a.m. High clearance vehicle and binoculars required. All other equipment provided. Additional volunteer assistance needed to document vegetation at point count stations; much more flexible schedule and less skill required, based on individual volunteer availability.
