Location: Prineville

Board Responsibilities: General

Contact:  [e-mail]

Nicole got hooked on birding as a college student studying wildlife biology on a semester abroad program in East Africa.  The lions and elephants were neat, but the birds were impossible to ignore and fun to identify.  This carried over when she returned home and realized what she had been missing!  Nicole focused her wildlife education and work experience in ornithology and has been pursuing a career in field biology ever since.

Nicole has worked on a variety of bird related projects for universities, government agencies, and as a private consultant.  This includes several summers at the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest working on Oregon State University’s long term Spotted Owl demography study. She spent 3 years in the Blue Mountains in northeastern Oregon studying cavity-nesters as a graduate student at the University of Idaho and has coauthored 3 published articles pertaining to cavity-nesters in peer reviewed journals.  Nicole lives in Prineville and works seasonally for the Ochoco National Forest mostly on eagle nest monitoring and Northern Goshawk surveys.  The rest of her time is spent skiing, hiking, canoeing, and fishing with her husband, Max; daughter, Sylvia; and border collie, Badger; and resting up for another baby due in July.
